La Certosa (1966) - water color 26.7 x 17.8 cm
Erminio Poretti

The light in Poretti's Venice water colors has a mystical quality that transfigures the townscapes of this wonderful city into a spiritual entity, one that lives to embrace and fight the sea, seemingly eternal in its beauty yet proving itself to be ephemeral and temporal, like everything that we love.

The etchings have the same excellence combining technical mastery with delicate feeling for people or landscapes. The same delicate reserve is expressed in his oil paintings through his admirable colors.

Poretti obtained his Diploma of Fine Arts from the Florence Academy in 1973 and has behind him a career of a true artist with numerous successful personal exhibitions every year since 1973 from Florence and Milan to Bern, Zurich and Lausanne. Present several times since 1976 at the Salon d'Automne, where one of his etchings was bought by the French Ministry of Culture in 1979, he has been elected as associate of the drawing and etching section of the world famous Salon.
